We need to Make Going to an Inpatient Drug Rehab Center Easier

In case you haven’t heard, there is an ongoing drug and alcohol abuse epidemic in the United States and around the world. Some of you might think I’m exaggerating, right? Well, I’m not, in the United States alone, there are an estimated 22 million adults who drink alcohol every day. Now add to that the number of people who use drugs illegally, which is another estimated 13.4 million, over the age of 12. That totals over 35 million Americans drinking and or drugging on a regular basis.

What that means is there are an awfully lot of people drunk and or high on drugs driving on the roads right now. The statistics show 1 person is killed every half-hour due to drunk driving, that’s right.

The problem is never going to improve, unless or until we make it easy and affordable to go to inpatient drug rehab. Right now the private sector and the insurance companies make it very difficult for someone who needs to go to a treatment center to do it. Even with insurance, the cost can be astronomical, putting it out of the reach of most people.
